On his way from Glasgow to London, the renowned English psychiatrist Theodore Dalrymple observed how, over a stretch of six hundred kilometres, almost every metre was strewn with strands of rubbish. And he wondered: what is the reason for this? What does it say about a country if everyone simply drops his or her litter as they please? Dalrymple, a well-known criticaster of modern (British) life, wrote a book on this theme: Litter. How other people’s rubbish shapes our lives. He will discuss this topic with René Cuperus (Wiardi Beckman Foundation), Bas Eickhout, member of the European Parliament for GroenLinks and Charles Vlek, emirtus professor of environmental psychology. You are cordially invited to participate.
